Head of Information Technology
As Head of Information Technology at Backbone, Kim Tercero manages all aspects of corporate IT including budget, strategy, and implementation. Kim defines, communicates vision, IT mission, services, and activities in alignment with the organizational goals. She leads the development, and evaluation of all respective technological environments to ensure its efficient and secure operation, working closely with management, external vendors, and advisors.
She is an accomplished operations and technology professional with over 20 years of proven success in social enterprise organizations, SMBs, non-profits, and startups. Her focus is on bringing operational efficiencies, cost reduction, and optimization of resources. Kim establishes best practices and then coaches and mentors teams to adopt the same. She operates in a test and learn environment with constant self-education on the latest trends in information systems. Results-oriented, she actively works on creating team alignment around measurable goals.
Kim has a proven track record of driving success within organizations and is talented at developing strategies necessary to propel organizations forward. Her business and leadership acumen extends out to her volunteer initiatives which include serving on the board of directors at Women in Cleantech and Sustainability as well as the Oakland Art Murmur. She is committed to social and environmental equity which is grounded in her belief that Black and Brown folks deserve to live in healthy and thriving communities. Kim is the proud daughter of immigrant parents and can be found in her personal time enjoying the Lake Merritt neighborhood in Oakland.
