2016
Long-time cannabis operator, meets Silicon Valley tech veterans in Humboldt, California. Their mission: understand the hurdles impacting cannabis operators.
2017-2018
The team interviews a dozen operators, manufacturers, cultivators, and dispensary owners to learn about their biggest challenges. Backbone is founded to help cannabis and hemp operators track every nuance of their supply chain and optimize manufacturing processes.
2019
Backbone team builds robust supply chain software for the most complex and regulated supply chain in the world: cannabis
2020-2021
Backbone offers solutions that help operators react to global supply chain volatility caused by global Covid pandemic. Backbone onboards customers in California, Colorado, Tennessee, Texas, Oregon, Michigan, the U.K and Canada. The first global cannabis brand, Cookies, selects Backbone to manage supply chain through international expansion. 1.6 Million kg of materials processed, 65,000 production runs, 226 Software Updates
2022
Backbone onboards operators in industries across the global supply mesh including agriculture and pharmaceuticals Backbone processes 100K METRC events and hits one million Metrc tags passing through their system, effectively saving cannabis operators thousands of hours
